There are a vast group
of photos directed by Rosso. These photographs represent an important
chapter in his work parallel to that of his sculpture. It is a mental
work, in which his obsessive thought on the continuity of space and
of the great influence of light over matter develops. He used to attribute
to these photos great importance, as he often would give them to friends
and he wanted them published in catalogs of his exhibitions, rejecting
more formally composed photographs. Using a wide color range, irregular
clippings of the margins of the photographs, producing series of photos
that modify progressively the relationship between the figure and the
surrounding space, Medardo Rosso expressed his artistic thought on the
relationship between the sculpture as an object and as an image. |
